LAKEFIELD (TEC News) -- One man died and another was partially buried when a ditch collapsed a mile east of Lakefield.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, the accident occurred shortly before 3:40 p.m. on Friday. Crews were digging in field tile at the time of the accident.

Emergency crews worked to free both victims. However, 19-year-old Levi Buresch of Lakefield was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, Byron Buresch, 52, of Lakefield was transported to Sanford Jackson Hospital. Details regarding his injuries were not available.

Assisting at the scene were the Lakefield Ambulance, Lakefield Fire Department, Lakefield Police Department, Jackson Fire Department, Sanford Air Ambulance and Minnesota DNR.
